Re: Why can't my Hololens open .exe files made with Unity?
Hi Gab,
HoloLens application it's in UWP format : .appx and not in .exe .
You can check the connection between your Computer and your HoloLens with the device portal : https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/uwp/debug-test-perf/device-portal-hololens
As far as i know there is several ways to deploy on HoloLens, try this one :
You can build your app on Unity in UWP (be sure to put your scripting backend configuration on .NET, this is in the player settings). Then you deploy your application on your HoloLens (connect by USB) by Visual Studio in "Release" "x86" mode and choose "Device" for the target.

I faced this issue before, the only solution i found it's to used UWP scripting.
Indeed you have to use "!UNITY_EDITOR" mark and inside put :

with the firt line you collect your file (in my case in StreamingAssets folder, i advise you to use it). Then you make it readable by string.

We are currently tracking this issue and are working towards a fix. No ETA is available at this time.
The current workaround is to pair your HoloLens clicker with the device and keep it connected during use. This should prevent the timeout you are experiencing above.
Please let us know if the workaround doesn't work for you or if you have any additional questions.

You are in the right area. The component should look like this:
And then the key area of the code of CustomInputSelector is around line 52 in the Awake. Note ours is slightly modified to work with Magic Leap:
You could add some logs here and see what exactly is triggering SpawnControllers to return false. Perhaps XRSettings.enabled?
Or if it is returning true then search your Hiearchy for Right_Hand or Left_Hand and perhaps the location is messed up? Your InputManager prefab should be at 0,0,0 but maybe it is located somewhere else in your scene?

They used their poster tracker for the Lowes example. They probably used it for this as well. It could be faked but it is also feasible with the poster tracker:

There are two toolkits one is unity specific. The other isn't, but is C++.
When @Egorbo implemented urhosharp, he initially put in plane finding from the mrtk. You can look through the code to see how he did it. He didn't link to .dll's for this, but added c++ files.

The easiest way I've found to take advantage of the mrtk is to learn to compile urho and UrhoSharp, then extend it by adding in the mrtk components that you want to use as @Egorbo did, but you need some c++ skills.
Another way is to wrap the c++ dlls in c# wrappers to access the functionality.
I've not found the mrtk components in c#. Also not really finding much useful in that toolkit, but likely since I've been on a different path.
