The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.
There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.
The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.
If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.
Holographic tracking state lost
Is there a way to prevent your app from shutting down when you take hololens off and hold it sideways?
Our app seems to crash when you try to pass the hololens to another user and keep the app live.

The best course of action I would take is to just be aware of the front sensors. As long as you keep them far enough away from anything that will block their view entirely it shouldn't lose tracking. For example, you will notice if you stand too close to a wall you will lose tracking. This still holds true if for say you block the sensors in anyway. There aren't really any solutions to this problem except being diligent.
However, a tip is you will be able to tell if the HoloLens loses tracking by listening for the sound it gives off. So in a demo, say you are passing it around and the volume is up high enough for you to hear it. You can be sure it has or hasn't lost tracking by the presence or absence of the sound. In the applications I have developed, I typically insert a voice command to "Reset" the scene for this purpose which in most cases just reloads the scene or another scene. I find this is the quickest and easiest way around this situation.
Also losing tracking shouldn't really crash your application, however, you may notice that some holograms are moved from their original spot after tracking has been regained.
