Dell visor - check your USB cable (error code: 1)

Note - I would not be posting here if I had not already followed the basic guidelines for troubleshooting this issue...

Dell visor - worked the first time of use yesterday. Today nothing will get past the error message above when I try and start the portal, restarting, reconnecting, uninstalling usb drivers etc.

I have checked the device manager and it is only connecting at usb 2 speeds however I have checked the same usb port with a usb 3 memory stick and it runs at full speed. I have tried all 4 usb 3 ports on my pc and the result is the same. I only have microsft drivers installed not 3rd party. Yesterday I had a WMR headset, today I have a plastic paperweight and would be grateful of some assistance beyond the obvious.

Device Manager screenshot attached - note it was previously identified as a Dell Visor, it now appears as a HoloLens device.

    Hi mnemonix,

Have you tried reinstall the device for your HMD? You can do this by following below steps:

    1. Open up Device Manager (Start > Device Manager), look under Mixed Reality devices for your HMD, it should appear normal and healthy, without a yellow bang.
    2. Right Click on the device and select Uninstall Device.
    3. In the new popup that appears, select the check box Delete the driver software for this device and this click Uninstall.
    4. When that completes unplug the HMD from your PC, and plug it back in. Windows Update will now download and install a new driver.

Turned out to be a bad headset. Returned Dell and got a Lenovo which worked as expected.
