Can't login into Hololens

I have setup the Hololens to never ask for the password, which it hasn't. Today it's asking for the password, I put the old password in and it says its wrong. I change the password in AD and still says it's wrong. We did change our email address to a different domain, and the account has the old email. Change the user to have the old email account and still doesn't work. I have tried a Safe reboot and an unsafe reboot. Still won't allow me to log in. I have no idea if it's connected to the internet (Because there is no indication). Is there any way to fix this issue without Factory Reset? It's really dumb that you can't switch users.



  • I experience the very same issue. I still can login through the Device Portal but there is no way I can login with the same credentials on the HoloLens itself.

  • Could someone from Microsoft give a reasonable explanation for this problem? or just confirm that this is indeed a current issue? Can't you just make it possible to switch to the original username/password mode instead of trying to use the domain password? It is the third time I have to reset my hololens because i cannot pass the login...

    My name is Will and I work with the Windows Mixed Reality team. I am sorry you are experiencing trouble with the sign in on HoloLens. We would love to look into this issue and are wondering if you can give a full description of the problem. What are you trying to do when signing in (auto sign-in or otherwise?) and where is it failing? Has anything changed since the last time you attempted to sign in/successfully signed in (such as a domain change)? Any other information will help in diagnosing any problems you may be experiencing, thanks!

    Unfortunately, switching to a new domain is an unsupported scenario for HoloLens and reimaging your device with WDRT is your only option at the moment.
