Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Intel i7 CPU x980 @3.33 Ghz and Windows Mixed Reality

I've been wanting to get Dell Visor recently so I ran a compatibility check on my computer to see. Apparently my cpu (in the title) is not compatible for running Mixed Reality. Why is that? I'm sure it exceeds the minimal requirements.

  • Hi aqn123,
My name is Etienne and I work with the Mixed Reality support team. I took a look at the specs for your processor and I believe the reason it is throwing an error is because that processor came out in 2010, before AVX support was built into Intel processors (which started in 2011). I am sorry to say that unfortunately you cannot run Mixed Reality without having AVX support on your processor as it is a requirement and there is no way around that requirement. I hope that helps explain things better!
