Get average angle of wall

I'd like to stick an object to the wall, I'm currently calculating the rotation my object should have like this:
StaticApplicationInfo.HitRotation = Quaternion.FromToRotation(hitInfo.normal, Vector3.up);
But this only calculates the rotation of the one triangle it hit. I'd like to get some sort of average of part of the wall.
Like how it works with placing screens, any idea how to achieve this?

    For placing on a wall, I would go with the HoloToolKit's plane finding mesh processing. It will then turn the wall portion of the mesh into a place that's a lot easier to place objects against.
