There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.
The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.
If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

How do you distribute private betas?

So how does one distribute a private test build of a HoloLens app? Is there something like TestFlight for Windows Store apps? How do you even install a HoloLens app via command line if I were to just give someone the executable? I'm sure Visual Studio is doing some command line kung-fu behind the scenes to copy and install the app on the device?

You can generate an appx package in Visual Studio. Right click on the project in your sln, select "store", then generate appx package.
Follow the instructions and an appx package will be built. If your device is in developer mode, under the Apps tab in the developer portal, you can sideload an app by browsing for the appx package and any dependencies.
I believe you can also submit an unlisted app to the store with the ability to share a direct link to the app. You will have to check your developer dashboard to see if this is possible.6 -
