Store Error Code 0x80240024 for install of any Office App on HoloLens

I'm getting error code 0x80240024 when attempting to install any of the Office apps through the Store on HoloLens. I already reset the device to factory settings and have checked for updates, but it still is not allowing me to install any of the office apps (outlook, powerpoint, words, or excel). What's going on? There's no mention of this error code anywhere that I can find.

I could not repro this issue, but I did find some threads with this error code:

This thread indicates that the problem should resolve itself (temporary networking issue?):
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_store/windows-store-error-0x80240024/e5041c32-e3c5-4898-b30c-51d953c5552d?auth=1

This thread indicates that the error means 'no update available' for the app. This might be possible if the original app didn't fully uninstall with the factory reset (so HoloLens thinks it's still on the device):

I would suggest rebooting your HoloLens and then trying to download the apps again. You can also check to see if the app is on your device (and remove it) via the 'App Manager' page on the Windows Device Portal. Are you able to download any other applications? Or does this happen with all store apps?

If the problem persists, let us know. Also, please file a bug via the Feedback Hub.

  • Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, neither of those recommended threads appear to be the issue. I'll submit a bug via Feedback Hub later today.

It's definitely not a networking issue as I can reproduce the issue 100% of the time on whatever network I connect to (tried 6 different at various locations). And the app has never successfully installed and does not show installed in the App Manager.

The installation issue exists only with the Office apps and has from the moment I got the device out of the box. Since then, I've installed many other apps, which have installed without issue. I've also rebooted multiple times and finally wiped the device back to factory settings to see if that was the issue, but it did not make a difference. Same result post-factory reset, can install any other store app except for Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • List of win store error codes where we can see the different windows store error codes. Every error code has the different solution. Most common error code on windows store is 0x80070422. This error occurs when we try to install an application on windows store and installation fails then we see this error. We can browse on Google to get the ways to fix this error.
