VNCaster: VNC for Hololens
This app has been a while in the making. It's a 100% brand new VNC client, exclusively for Hololens, compatible with all VNC servers I've tested. It does require a bluetooth keyboard, and a mouse is also highly recommended. With this, I'm finally able to ditch my laptop entirely -- OS X works great with it!
To kick things off, here are 5 promo codes to get the app for free and save $10:
Each will only work once, so please don't use it if you don't already have a Hololens. I look forward to feedback!
You can also see a demo video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8LD5F-bDGk
Not sure how I managed to make this a question rather than discussion. If an admin could set this as discussion, I'd appreciate it greatly.
Hey, thanks for this! What do you think of adding a full-screen mode so the app bar can be hidden? The tricky thing would be figuring out some UI to bring it back. As I understand it Gaze triggers hover events, maybe an invisible hot corner of some reasonable size? Something you'd dwell on for 3 seconds or so. Or there's always voice input.
Actually, a quick test on the emulator seems to show the app bar flashing back briefly when I air tap outside the bounds of a fullscreen mode 2D window. If I line up the gaze cursor above the window where the adjust button would be, I can snag it pretty easily. Not sure if this is by design, but might as well exploit it for now...
Is it able to run multiple windows concurrently?
@Dvashgadol by my testing, no; a second instance puts the first to sleep. @Daeken do you have plans to support multiple active windows?
This looks awesome. I'm purchasing as soon as I reset this Hololens to my account. This is one of the #1 hololens use cases for me.
This app doesn't work, when try to connect vnc server, it just goes sleeping status.
seems some issue with rs4 release
