SetActive canvas relative to gameobject position

i'm trying to SetActive canvas relative to position of tapped gameobject. but canvas will always appear relative to only to the first gameobject that I add the script to. I've dragged the gameobject accordingly but still have this problem. not sure what is wrong with the script. here's an example script:
public GameObject menu; public GameObject obj; void Start() { menu.SetActive(false); } void OnSelect() { menu.SetActive(!menu.activeSelf); menu.transform.position = obj.transform.position + obj.transform.up * 0.5f; }
