Streaming Capture Issues
If you are lucky enough to have a device and you haven't seen it yet, you owe it to yourself to go grab the HoloLens companion app. If you have, please share here your experience with the app. I've tried it on three different networks (two different homes and one Verizon MiFi) and I can't keep streaming working for more than 30 - 60 seconds. If someone finds a fix for this, please share.

The more I look into this the more I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the Surface Pro 3. Last night I installed the companion app on my phone (a Lumia 929 running Windows Mobile 10) and though the connection did drop once, the stream never slowed down or hung.
I had problems streaming video files from a server with this tablet two weeks ago and I was able to fix it by turning off Packet Coalescing for the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless adapter. I noticed yesterday that something had turned it back on and I thought for sure that was it, but turning it back off didn't seem to make the problem any better.

So glad this exists. All I heard about before was the ability to add it to an app. This will allow me to live stream demo anything shown on the Hololens. I hope the dev team can correct the 30-60 second streaming limitation some are experiencing.
You can do this from the device portal too. On the hololens goto settings -> For developers settings and at the bottom there is a switch to turn it on (I think you have to do this for this app too). Then on a computer on the same network find go to the IP of the Hololens. Once you log in, you will see a lot of different options on the left side, one of those is Live Preview. From there you can Live Preview, Record and snap screenshots.
I wrote an article on how to work around some of the performance issues right now with live streaming to the companion app. Hope this helps someone:
