If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

This is by design. The emulator is for deploying/testing your own apps. Not so sure that is the intent.
This question was asked and answered by Microsoft in a previous thread.
Bottom line it does not support loading store apps right now.
It sounds like at some point the emulator might enable installing store apps and other features. My guess is that the emulator will continue to improve.

I can't do this either, but I think this is by design.
I couldn't even log in through the emulator. You got further than I did.
