What is "Limited Mode"

Every once in a while a prompt comes up in the emulator that says "Use in Limited Mode".

Not sure if it is appearing due to a key sequence that I am accidentally pressing, an inadvertent tap or the changing state of the VS debugger attaching and detaching, I haven't quite figured out the pattern or noticed the steps to predictably reproduce getting the prompt.

This last time I encountered it I found a second instance of the start screen pinned which a prompt to "Exit Limited Mode".

Just curious.

  • Thanks @james_ashley,

I wonder what I am doing that is trigging it in the emulator.
Also very interesting that the emulator gives me the option to "Exit Limited Mode", which sort of implies that in the emulator it may be something that can be intentionally toggled and not something that is occurring just due to transitional state of say the deployed application initializing.

Now that I know what it is all about I will try and watch for the cause and effect relationship.
