How to pair PS4 controller to hololens running latest updates?

edited February 2017 in Questions And Answers

It would be extremely appreciated if someone with a PS4 controller can try to pair it to a hololens running the latest updates. I've tried pressing the reset BT button on the controller, and that made it show up in the device list for a bit, but it failed to respond after clicking pair.
Now, it won't show up in the list at all.

In August of last year a mod in the forums here said you can use controllers on hololens (or at least pair them to it) so long as they have bluetooth HID or GATT profiles.

Saw a few threads dated around Aug. 2016 where people say they got PS4 controllers paired to the device, but no steps detailing how they did it.

Thanks for any info in regards to this.

    Sorry to bump this.
Just wanted to update this saying that I still haven't found a way to get a PS4 bluetooth controller detected by the hololens.

According to the info on this Working With Accessories page seems like it should just work (get detected). But it doesn't.

Could anyone possibly refer me to links or info to get it working? That, or could I get confirmation that the PS4 controller no longer pairs with hololens?

All other info I've found is over 1/2 a year old.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey HanserWork1,

I happened to find a way to get the PS4 controller working with the Hololens.
What I did was first place the PS4 controller in pairing mode. This was done by holding the share and PS button together for a couple of seconds. This should cause the lights on the controller to blink. Here's a short video of this in action if what I said doesn't make sense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O47QX9L7H4E

Once the controller is in pairing mode, it should be visible and ready to connect to the Hololens. From that I just follow the rest of the directions given by Microsoft, which is:

    1. Bloom to go to Start, then select Settings.
    2. Use gaze to position the Settings app, then air tap to place it, or say "Place."
    3. Select Devices and make sure Bluetooth is on. When you see the device name, select Pair and follow the instructions.

Let me know if it works.
