What is HoloLens Shell Font?
Hello, everybody.
I have tried searching the forums but to no avail. I would like to design the UI of my app to look consistent with HoloLens's Windows shell for the slick looks. What font is used in the HoloLens shell and can I legally use it in my app? If not, can I purchase it?

Take a look at the UWP Design Resources. Under the Fonts section you can download the HoloLens font.

The HoloLens font on the linked site only has the following:
Though I have another HoloLens font with the following:
That being said, I'm fairly certain the font used for normal text in the shell is SegoeUI and can also be found on the site JannikLassahn linked too.
With regard to usage, the EULA for the font permits you to use it in your application providing it is being run on a Microsoft Platform (which the HoloLens clearly is), however, there is a restriction that you may not distribute the fonts separate from the Software or in programs you develop for products or platforms that are not Microsoft Platforms.
It was for this reason that the text prefabs in the HoloToolkit weren't able to use SegueUI because that would have required shipping the font along with the source code on GitHub. Instead they just document how to switch to using it.
