Hello everyone.
The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.
There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.
The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.
If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

I would like to scan objects and then, for example, represent the definition of the object as text. I've never worked with Hololens. So it would be nice if someone can tell me what kind of tools i need and how can i write the program (java, c ++? Wich tool? Eclipse, visual studio?).
Thank you very much

Hi, as a tool i would recommend Unity 3d with c# as programming language.
In order to represent the scanned object definition i would use the front camera of hololens and take a picture each 10 seconds (You can also add a voice command for scanning or something like this) and then use the Microsoft Cognitive Services to get the definition of the scanned object.
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/cognitive-services/computer-vision/
You just need to make a post with the image you take with your hololens camera to the computer vision api and you will get a json, after you need to extract the higher confidence value (or get all values which will be everything that the computer see in your picture) from that json ,and that is your scanned object. Then you just need to render the text.
Hope it helps.
