Can you connect your Windows Machine to your HoloLens via a inactive WiFi connection?

I am working with a virtual machine, that doesn't recognize the USB connection to the HoloLens. My other option is connect with an inactive WiFi connection. The HoloLens can connect to the WiFi, but I can't reach the HoloLens from my computer. Is this possible?

What do you mean inactive wifi connection? If you are talking just a local router that doesn't hit the internet then that should be fine. We use that setup in shared a lot.

The computer and the HoloLens need to be on the same subnet. Which I was still in WiFi can search google mode on the computer and had to switch to the wifi that can't search google. Same as the HoloLens.
