Toggle that responds to gesture input?

Hello,

I'm brand new to both Unity and Hololens development, so please forgive such a simple question.

I'm trying to make a toggle button for my application that, when Air-Tapped, will toggle a HUD on or off. The problem is, I can't figure out how to even get started with gesture input. I've spent pretty much all day scouring for everything I could find, and I couldn't find a single solution or tutorial that worked and was compatible with the newest version of HoloToolKit for Unity. If someone could please offer some guidance so I can at least begin to understand what I'm doing, rather than just scouring the internet aimlessly, I'd really appreciate it.
