[Computer Vision] Best tool to track laser dot?

Hi everybody,

I'm actually trying to track a laser pointer on a white board for my final year engineering project. The goal of this is to detect the hologram at smallest distance from the red point, so I have to detect if the laser is present AND his position.

I've tried to use Vuforia, but the laser pointer seems to small (2mm x 2mm).
The project has to be build in Unity, and I'd like to avoid buying an expensive asset.

Anyone has any idea?
Thanks
