Hello everyone.

We have decided to phase out the Mixed Reality Forums over the next few months in favor of other ways to connect with us.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

The plan between now and the beginning of May is to clean up old, unanswered questions that are no longer relevant. The forums will remain open and usable.

On May 1st we will be locking the forums to new posts and replies. They will remain available for another three months for the purposes of searching them, and then they will be closed altogether on August 1st.

So, where does that leave our awesome community to ask questions? Well, there are a few places we want to engage with you. For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality. If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers. And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

New to HoloLens

Hi ,
My organisation has purchased the HoloLens and I have to develop a application for one of our manufacturing client in a very short span of time.
I have very little knowledge on unity. With sample videos on HoloLens I am not able to make from where and how to start with and get such a wonderful result.

I would highly appreciate if I can get help and make my project a successful one.

  • Hello @swati_jain. Congratulations on purchasing the HoloLens. You will find that you will get far more traction here in the forums when you have a specific problem you are trying to solve, and can show what you have done to try solving it first. There are lots of resources out there for learning both HoloLens and Unity. Those would be a good place to start. I would check out the Holographic Academy courses Microsoft published as a good starting point.

If your deadline for the project is really as tight as you make it seem, it might be prudent to hire an experienced developer to do the work, or to mentor you though the work.

    Hope this helps.

    Jesse

  • Hey Swati, have a look at my blog https://codeholo.com/ to help you get started with Hololens Tutorials using the latest Unity and Mixed Reality Toolkit (2017 editions). And if you have any particular issues, drop me an email/msg. Good luck!
