Hello everyone.

We have decided to phase out the Mixed Reality Forums over the next few months in favor of other ways to connect with us.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

The plan between now and the beginning of May is to clean up old, unanswered questions that are no longer relevant. The forums will remain open and usable.

On May 1st we will be locking the forums to new posts and replies. They will remain available for another three months for the purposes of searching them, and then they will be closed altogether on August 1st.

So, where does that leave our awesome community to ask questions? Well, there are a few places we want to engage with you. For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality. If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers. And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Solid State Disk (SSD) increases speed HoloLens Emulator and Unity 5.5.* loading by 300%

The hard disk (1TB,split 3 partitions) was getting so slow the Windows 10 appeared to have a problem. The solution was a 256GB SSD installed at the shop with TRIM software, which was slow. The re-installed from USB version Formatted the SSD with Windows 10 formatter which was rapid. The install was quick and when the PC was started from the new Windows 10 Multi system boot, that was quick.

The fastest thing is the HoloLens Emulator which now loads in under 5 seconds from the original 35 seconds. The transfer rate is the full 225MB/s yes Megabytes/Second! compared with the 11MB/s of the hard disk.

The SSD is a KINGSTON SUV400S37240G, but probably any 256GB SSD will work.

If you are not allowed to re-install your Windows 10 Creators Edition then get the SSD as a development disk and put Visual Studio, HoloLens Emulator and Unity on the SSD.

Visual Studio 2017 starts really fast now, sometimes loading at 135MB/s compilation is about 70% to 80% quicker as all the CPU's are now 100% busy.

Time is premium even to the Indie Developers and the SSD is far more useful investment purchase than another graphics card!.

The Windows 10 restarts are fantastically fast like 11 to 15 seconds and login is almost instant booting off and SSD. Because of the Multi Version OS menu you can boot from hard disk to access you domain managed system.
