UWP Real Meaning

It was my understanding that the Universal Windows Platform family was meant to include all Windows 10 running machines (from Surface to Hololens, etc). Is this really the case? Or do you have to have some sort of specialty update to run on Windows 10 pcs? Just curious.

This is rather off conference (ie about HoloLens and Mixed Reality). However the answer is that HoloLens runs Windows 10 version adapted from the Phone version base build 14393. Running UWP.

You have to run from Visual Studio 2015 of VS 2017 to automatically install UWP app. You can side load signed UWP app programs into the Device and Emulator.

UWP works for ARM/Lumina 925, HoloLens, Windows Desktop, and various other Development kits.

Or do you have to have some sort of specialty update to run on Windows 10 pcs?

For more information on Windows 10 Insider PC later versions please refer to the blog.
