Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

HoloLens' weaknesses

I found this article about HoloLens, worth checking the HoloLens' weak spots, in order to improve the product in a near future

meh, they should try one before proclaiming anything.... some things sound terrible on paper, but aren't half bad.

Anti aliasing for example, normally if you don't crank it up in unity, everything looks ridiculously jagged, but on the hololens it's surprisingly not aliased without any anti aliasing enabled. But if you just looked at the docs where it says to disable anti aliasing, you'd think omg it doesn't support AA, but in reality it's good enough without it and saves a lot of performance.

The resolution doesn't really matter, things look awesome.......on the device. The viewport is only so big, so higher res won't even be noticeable.

Performance is definitely less than a standalone computer, but it's not any different from targeting mobile devices with games..... a few years ago devices (early ipads) had 512mb of memory and we still made 3d games for them...

The recording is actually pretty good, it records mp4's for 3 mins at a time with good voice and composites the AR scene onto the video feed to show exactly what you're seeing.
