Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

A few changes coming to forums!

Hey everyone! First of all, I want to say thank you for all your participation in the forums and support of one another. You are an amazing community, and we've been so impressed with the enthusiasm, creativity, and determination of this group.

You've probably noticed that we've been heads down shipping an expanded Windows Mixed Reality platform for Windows 10 PCs and new immersive headsets and motion controllers to take advantage of that. That's meant that we've been more silent in the forums than we'd like to be as we've focused on shipping all these new things. Rest assured that we're working through some ways to get you all faster answers and equip the community with better resources to find the answers you need.

We also recognize that, unlike HoloLens which is developer and commercial focused, the consumer release of Windows Mixed Reality immersive headsets and motion controllers will bring a whole new crowd of enthusiastic users to our forums who are not developers. They'll have a lot of the same usability, how-to, and troubleshooting questions you've already been asking in the forums based on your dev kits.

So, one of the ways we'll be addressing this moving forward is to create a new category of conversation in the forums focused on the non-development related questions and troubleshooting for our devices and Windows Mixed Reality as a whole. Even if you're a dev, when you have questions about headset setup, how to fix an error, etc. please ask your questions there - it'll benefit all our users. We'll also be staffing that area with a quick response team who will either have the answer you need or will chase it down quickly.

If you have questions about developing for Windows Mixed Reality, HoloLens, APIs, tools, Unity, etc. please continue to ask those in the development categories of the forums. By separating the usability stuff from the development stuff, it'll also help our engineering team focus its efforts in a more targeted way on the development area of the forums (once we take a second to breathe after shipping all this stuff of course!).

Over time, we'll also make some visual changes to the forums and rebrand from HoloLens to all Windows Mixed Reality (and maybe redirect the URL), but those changes shouldn't affect your experience a ton.

Again, thank you for being on this journey with us, thanks for being an amazing community, and thank you in advance for welcoming a whole new batch of mixed reality enthusiasts to our community moving forward.

<3 Matt
