IpOverUSB... more than Device Portal?

I'm developing a network-driven HoloLens, but certain customers can't accept WiFi connectivity (for security reasons). I was hoping that there was some IpOverUSB trickery that could be done to communicate UDP packets with the HoloLens via a USB connection.

The most recent information I can find on this subject [https://forums.hololens.com/discussion/2301/adding-port-forwards-to-hololens] indicates that there was a hacky solution at one point, but it's no longer a viable path forward. Are there any other means by which the HoloLens can communicate on a LAN without WiFi?
