Gesture recognition to improve?

So looking at the docs it seems Hololens is currently limited to very basic gestures and tracking from the hand. Basically a finger tap, drag/release, and 'bloom'.

Is there plans to add more advanced forms in later versions of the SDK? Something on par with what Meta 2 is showing (being able to 'touch' the holograms with your fingers)

    @holovr - yeah, I got to step in here. I've demoed the Meta before and I've demoed the Hololens. I can tell you from first hand experience that the Meta product is not very impressive. They have great people working for them and Raymond Lo is a bright guy, but they have made some design decisions from an early date that make their product not very appealing. The new Meta 2 video shows the tracking is just as jittery and unstable as it has been for some time and this is under the best case scenario situations of a demo video. Our group visited Meta looking for a better hand tracking solution and were disappointed to find that our own in house system had better absolute accuracy which is crazy because this isn't our primary area of focus.

    They are doing well at hand occlusion, i.e. that the tracking of the hand makes it so that the system then occludes the augmentations calculated to be distal the hand. I've asked Microsoft about hand occlusion specifically and it looks like that's not happening right now. Honestly, I think the mechanism of Gaze plus tapping is better from a user standpoint anyway- your arms are going to get pretty tired waving around in the air.
