HoloShellApp Crashing ( AppCrash_HoloShellApp.exe ) after running fine for 3 days

edited December 2017 in Q&A and Discussions

PRIMARY ISSUE: HEADSET BLACKS OUT FREQUENTLY WHEN IN MR

NOTE: This could have stated after I downloaded the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update, but I'm not totally sure. But, when I plugged the HMD into the system when the system arrived all was well. A few days later I decided to install the Fall Creators update. That is the only thin I can think of as being the probable cause-- unless it was an automatic update that is the culprit.

In any event, please review the attached info. If I need to return the headset, please let me know.

SYMPTOMS:

I have the Samsung Odyssey Headset. It has run fine for 3 days. Then it started crashing very frequently both prior to and during use.

The controllers beams disappear or the controllers themselves don't show up.
The headset goes black and sometimes requires rebooting the machine.

Everything is brand new the computer and the headset.

I've installed apps from the store, Unity3D, Visual Studio and XSplit broadcaster. But they were all working fine together.

I've checked the Event Viewer logs and can see that there are very many APPCRASH Entries for the HoloShellApp.

EXPERIMENT:

If I try running the HoloShellApp from the command line, I get a new APPCRASH EventLog Entry every time-- not sure if I could run that way though, I was just experimentally trying to reproduce the issue.

I have updated NVIDIA Drivers, but did not help.

Anyway, what was initially very stable, is now very unstable.

Yes, I have the same issue.
The only thing I did was to install more memory in my computer...

Now it always crashes, both when trying to run the Mixed Reality Portal and if I manually run : C:\WINDOWS\HoloShell\HoloShellApp.exe from the CMD (as normla or Admin user)

(I have a HP 1440 Mixed Reality Headset)
