Can I use spatial mapping to identify a real object?

What i want to do is to identify object from the real world.
Since spatial mapping, maps the surrondings, is it possible to identify an object (i.e a scree) and then identify it's shape (square) using information from the spatial mapping?

    There's not software yet that is working on data in the spatial map to identify objects, and running on the hololens, but this is not far away.

    The current software in use for computer vision such as Microsoft's Cognitive Service's Computer Vision and OpenCV are working off of 2D data.
