Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Battery Replacement and Charging

Hello, I am curious if someone from Microsoft or if anyone here has any information on charging of the Hololens and batteries. I ask because the Hololens seems to be initially targeted towards enterprise and industrial uses. In a scenario like this, especially with a 2-3 hour battery life (as quoted via the documentation), the battery handling is quite important. I suppose, if no information is out there, my and others needs would probably be that:

  • The battery is easily swap-able, ideally without losing the current session.
  • There needs to be a separate battery charging accessory (ideally bulk charging) for the batteries by themselves. This way, the users out in the field (so to speak) can carry precharged batteries with them and swap out as needed.

To me this doesn't seem to out of the question to ask. Even if there is no documentation on this, I am simply posting here to hopefully give Microsoft feedback as to my (and I'd assume) other's possible requirements.
