In general, you don't have access to the file system. While it is Windows 10, its locked down to uwp and the device is very close to closed off kiosk device. Even the file pickers that you can use in your app are limited to what folders can be accessed. I'm assuming at some point this might change but I haven't seen ability to view system files.

You don't really have access to the file system outside of the app local data folder. Typically UWP is sandboxed to its own memory/file space.

Thanks for the response. I didn't mean through code though, but rather just on the Hololens' drive. You can edit the host file on a normal Windows 10 desktop machine. I don't know if it even uses a similar version of Windows 10 or if it highly customized.

Hey, thanks for the info. That was going to be my next task...to see what I could access in code via file picker. I guess we will see what is accessible in the future.
On a side not, do you know where to find update release notes? I did a quick search but haven't found anything yet.
Are you referring to the uwp sdk release notes? I ran across this but I don't know how much of this api is available in the Hololens libraries .https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/whats-new/windows-10-version-1607
Also there are some release notes for the sdk on the lense
