Do 2D apps work as multi-user shared experiences?

Given that the HoloLens shell wraps UWA's and handles things like spatial awareness for app pinning, is it possible to create 2D apps that work as shared experiences?

For example, could two or more users wearing HoloLens walk through a common environment and see the same 2D apps in the same locations displaying the same content?

Is the shell capable of connecting with a server and sharing the necessary spatial data? and if so can the same sharing libraries from the HoloToolKit be used to achieve this type of solution?

This may help with sharing across HoloLens devices in Chapter 3 of holograms_240
    There is an example:-

    Chapter 3 - Shared Coordinates

It's fun to see and interact with holograms, but let's go further. We'll set up our first shared experience - a hologram everyone can see together.

    Objectives
Setup a network for a shared experience.
    Establish a common reference point.
    Share coordinate systems across devices.
    Everyone sees the same hologram!

May be wonder if 2D would be similar

  • @Patrick sorry to hear that. I hope it is something on the Shell teams' radar to make XAML 2D apps more useful in more scenarios.
