LabVIEW interface for the Hololens

Scientists and engineers have been using LabVIEW from National Instruments for decades to develop software that meet the requirements for their specific applications. Making a toolkit to interface the Hololens with LabVIEW will increase the likelihood that the Hololens will be integrated within scientific and industrial applications.

HaroTek (www.harotek.com) is currently developing such a toolkit. The idea is that virtual 3D objects created within LabVIEW using LabVIEW standard 3D tools would easily be uploaded in the Hololens. Below is a simple example of LabVIEW code where virtual 3D objects are uploaded in both LabVIEW 3D display and on the Hololens.

  • Great! I would love to use this with my lab's robots. Which models are currently available?

  • As long as you have the CAD model of the robot, any robot model can be used.

  • For scientists and engineers that are National Instruments LabVIEW programmers, Hololens applications can now be developed using the Haro3D app, available from the Microsoft Store and the Haro3D library, that can be installed using VIPM (vipm://harotek_lib_haro3d).
