Microphone is no longer working on the device.

edited July 2017 in General

I was in the middle of running an app of mine for testing and voice commands were no longer processing. Thought it was my app, so I reset the last changes I made and tried again, nothing. Cortana does not recognize my voice anymore, nor does the calibration. I tried turning off allow apps to use microphone and back on again. I restarted the device (not sleep and wake), and still nothing.

Thought I would search for an update to try and take care of it, but it said up-to-date, last check was -around the same time as when the microphone stopped working,- just before 3PM today. Is there a fix for this without doing a factory reset, and someone else had posted they did this and it still does not recognize their voice to go to the next screen at startup. Their issue was no audio OR microphone, mine is JUST the microphone...

Thank you for any help.

OK, so I allowed the device to run out of power completely. I recharged it, pulled it up, and the microphone is working again! This has worked for me in the past on mobile devices (non-Microsoft / Windows) so I thought I would give it a shot.

Hope it helps someone out there.
