Acer Mixed Reality - USB Problems on a Surface Pro (2017)

I am running the fall creators inisder 16257.1 on a 2017 Surface Pro, i7, 16gb of ram.

When I plug in the Acer Mixed Reality Headset, I get two USB errors in the device manager. The first is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and "Unknown USB Device (Set Address Failed)"; both error 43.

Curious if anyone has gotten the Acer unit working on a 2017 Surface Pro. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the link link2 that discusses immersive headset support for Surface product line with answer from admin.

  • I have surface pro, and not a surface book. The new Surface pro is supported.

  • I have the same issue, did you ever find a solution?

  • No I didnt. I did have someone test it on their machine and it worked fine. I wish someone at MS could chime in on this issue. I hate having a $299 paperweight.

Please ensure plugging in the headset, and then File Feedback and share the URL.

BTW, the minimum hardware spec for development is higher than Surface Pro spec.

  • I just tried with the new 16273 release and even with the new USB drivers, the problem of Unknown USB Device error still exists with my Surface Book. I have both the Acer and HP headsets and neither works. And, they both work on my Alienware X51R2 desktop so the headsets are definitely not defective.

  • Still not fixed in 16278 build
