Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Holotoolkit Sharing with UNET example

I downloaded the Holotoolkit and loaded the scene, sharingwithUnet, immediately into Unity and built/deployed to my HoloLens. I have another HoloLens as well running the same scene. However, the two HoloLens never find each other and set themselves both as a server. Is there a reason this is happening? Am I missing something?

Solved: It was a problem with the firewall.

  • Hey dbarrett, what was the problem with the firewall? Was this on your router? People mention these issues fairly regularly, and many of them I don't know how to solve.

  • All I did to solve it was get on another router that wasn't connected to my network or the Internet for that matter. I believe as long as the two are on the same network it doesn't matter if the router has internet or not. For a more permanent solution we just set up an empty router but, if you need to test it out you can hop on a mobile hotspot or something similar. I'm not sure what it is about the firewall that prevented us from connecting but it prevented the HoloLens from anchoring correctly.
