Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Change to Mixed Reality Toolkit Dev_Unity_2017.2 branch today

Today @stephenhodgson and I are going to be merging the Main branch of the HTK into the Dev_Unity_2017.2 branch. There is a pretty wide gap of things that have gone into the Main Branch that have not gone into the Dev branch, and we need to close that gap to move forward. This may cause breakage in the Dev branch. If you need a stable version of the Dev_Unity_2017.2 branch, you can get it here - https://github.com/Microsoft/MixedRealityToolkit-Unity/releases - marked as 2017.2 Pre-release.

What will be super helpful is for you guys to maybe make copies of your projects that use the Dev_Unity_2017.2 branch, or even Master, and test out all the parts of your projects using it. Let us know where it's broken, what pain points there were to upgrading, etc. File the issues on Github so we can track them. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.

  • Will do.
@Jesse_McCulloch , I have a few questions for you for this branch:

    • Are the api stable enough at this point ? I hope there won't be too much changes from this point on until release.
    • How complete is the support for motion controller ?
    • Is it on track to be released by mid-October ?
  • @ahalim -

As far as I know the API surface is pretty stable for Unity 2017.2.0f1 at this point. If you need to get started today, you can use the pre-release code that we have in the releases tab for the Dev_Unity_2017.2 branch. I would say it's the most solid. We are currently making changes to the Dev branch to pull in a bunch of stuff that was in Main branch but never made it to the Dev branch. The Dev branch code (if you were to download or clone) right now is in flux, but I believe our aim is to have it all ready to go by early next week, if not sooner.

There is support for the motion controllers in the toolkit. As far as I know it works correctly, however I don't have a set of controllers to be able to tell you how rock solid it is.

  • I would say the current dev branch for Immersive apps is working fine. A few tweaks are coming in to stabilise it more, but overall It's working fine for me.

  • After the upgrade I cannot get the Mixed reality toolkit to be accessible from the software. It will not show up on the main toolbar.
What can I do to fix this?
  • @holonut
I experienced the same problem. I fixed it by creating a new project.
I know that's not the an elegant way but it worked for me.

    Greetings
