Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

When do we submit to the store?

My app is ready to be submitted to the windows store. What is the process for this? Do I just add a package to my existing windows hololens app that supports windows desktop? What SDK version do I have to build with?

Answers

  • Any updates on this?

  • My game GunSpinning VR is also ready and available as a private beta right now. However I can't submit a game with a SDK upper to 15XX and there is no VR category.

Hey guys, remember that any VR title developed for Windows Mixed Reality immersive headsets is actually a Windows 10 Desktop title, so you won't see a "VR category." However, there are several mixed reality metadata properties you should indicate when submitting your app, which we've documented and have been live in Dev Center for a few weeks now.

As for the SDK, you're right that there are a few features that are RS3-specific and rely on the final RS3 SDK, though I'm surprised you're hitting them. An announcement on the final RS3 SDK will be made soon (keep an eye on the Windows Developer blog) and then if you update your app/manifest to target the final RS3 SDK, you'll be able to submit successfully.

Okay. I'm hoping to be store ready by the 17th when the HMDs ship, please keep us updated when you get a chance thanks!

  • @MattZ thank you, I don't use any feature of the latest SDK but I think it was recommanded to compile the application with the latest one. Your link seems dead btw ;)

  • Good catch @demonixis. Looks like it copy/pasted without a necessary colon. Hmm.

By the way, the final RS3 SDK just went live, so you can submit apps successfully against it! You can get it directly from https://developer.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-10-sdk or you can download it as part of the newest Visual Studio update at visualstudio.com.

  • I have an important question. Will checking mixed reality controllers as required (which they are on PC) make it so users on the hololens side cannot purchase the app? If so, how do I deal with that.

  • Well.. i hope not. I'm submitted to the store and waiting for certification. Hoping I make it before tomorrow and the above is not an issue..
