Work with 3d model as spatial mapping
Hi! I am developing with holotoolkit. I need to know if it can be used on the proyect I am thinking about.
In a truck assembly line, I find myself in a static environment, but the trucks are moving slowly forward. For each truck, I need to look at the back and place a 3D plane(prefab) that fits the trailer in the same place on all trucks.
the plane must fit into the trailer floor.
Is any way for make this with hololens??
Thanks a los. Any information is helpful.

It would be complicated but it is definitely possible. You would need some form of markers (either vuforia or make your own) and place that on the back of the truck, then use that marker to place your 3D Prefab on the back of the truck accordingly.

Is the movement of the truck consistent in velocity and direction?
If the answer is yes then you could place the 3D Prefab on the back of the truck using an air tap then it would just be math to get the 3D Prefab to follow the truck. However, the initial placement won't be exact as the spatial mesh won't be flush to the truck especially if it is moving, so you will need a way to bump the Prefab into its correct placement initially.

Actually, thinking about this some more I think you will have problems with this. The HoloLens spatial mapping will get confused with large objects moving slowly - so you will never get a good stable mesh to work with. So what you will end up with is the HoloLens will think the moving trucks are part of the room then jump when it readjusts to the actual room.

Thank you for your answer, but I can't use any markers. I cant add anything to the truck trailer.
To recognize the back of truck I should use Vuforia tracking 3D that is not workig yet.
Other way to make this?
Thanks!

Thanks for the answers. I assumed it was going to be difficult not to say impossible at the moment. I'll have to wait for Vuforia's 3D tracking.
Thank you.
