Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Has anyone made VRTK work with the MR controllers?

VRTK is an amazing tool to make VR games work across different headsets. I was wondering if anyone in the community has made it work with the MR controllers.

  • I would be interested in this as well. There was an article from September where the developer said he plans to integrate Windows MR into VRTK once he gets his hands on the motion controllers, so hopefully that's not too far off.

  • @wikieden This is great! Thank you!

  • I can't run any of the scenes, on the SDK selection component it says that WindowsMR is not installed. How did you make it run on your end?

Were you able to make it run?

  • So for the looks of it it's in the works on the VRTK repo, great work is being done there! https://github.com/thestonefox/VRTK/issues/1565

  • @fariazz Still working through some issues, but I have gotten it to function for the most part. I seem to remember the "WindowsMR is not installed" error, but I can't recall how I fixed it. It may have been something to do with switching the build platform to UWP and checking the "Virtual Reality Supported" box in the player settings (with Windows Mixed Reality listed as a virtual reality SDK).

  • Just to give an update to this, the VRTK community is hard at work getting Windows MR support in VRTK. I will also be helping out when I get a working dev machine back, my motherboard broke in October so I've been without a dev machine, which is why the work has taken so long :(

Hopefully, next week I'll have a new dev machine and I can get the Windows MR stuff finalised in VRTK :)

Thanks for all the hard work you put into VRTK!

If I was Microsoft I'd send you a top of the line VR-ready computer as we speak as they really need more games in their marketplace!

  • Yepp give StoneFox some iron that makes a difference The VRTK is something that really has made a difference for many in the emerging VR community. The stuff of legends to be told twenty years from now when people gather around the fireplace at evenings to remember and tell stories about the early days of vr... :-)
    Respect,
