Can a maker of films transition to Hololens (not a programmer)
Hi, my brother does films for lawyers, and other businesses. He films, and then edits with advanced software. Would HoloLens help his profession in any way?

I don't think HoloLens is such an old standard in the movie industry to have any conventions at all. It's pretty much up to you how you utilise it. If you do, however, it would be nice to share your results with the community.
HoloLens can render holographic content and can track its own position and rotation in space. The rest is up to imagination. For example HoloLens wearer can be a great first person camera man. That camera's position could then go into a digital movie. Or you can film actual Mixed Reality movies by artistically synchronising real life content and holographic content. And finally HoloLens could simply act as a preview of some digital content "in place".
Mixed Reality is a new platform where developers will expand its full potential, not just a little niche tool with strict guidelines. So it's hard to sum things up.

So it seems from the two videos that you can put an artificial 3D character in a movie, and (somewhat less clear) create an entire artificial landscape and setting for a movie where real people move in the landscape. Does that sum it up?

I did one for internal use. Ask him to watch this video. I did contact the producer of this short movie for something. She got an invite/offer to discuss to make a movie in Hollywood after the success of this.
It's all about the imagination how to use this technology. There is no limit to it.

The vimeo video by HoloDevices shows a kind of integration that might work with crime scene reconstruction. I don't know personally anyone who makes such films (the closest I know of is a person who films court depositions), but I'm thinking that a lawyer who is trying to convince jurors of a particular scenario could take a crime scene, and put in the actors. I guess you could use real actors too, but usually you are not supposed to invade actual crime scenes. The creatures and little girl in the Vimeo video are remarkable. I assume HoloLens movies could do the same, except maybe not with retina devices. I wonder if you could superimpose historical figures over actors using this technology?
