How can I rotate in place using mouse or keyboard?

I'm using just a keyboard/mouse and no speech. I can't seem to find an easy way to rotate in place. Trying to use the teleportation mechanism to adjust where I'm facing is a never ending pain.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, with the current version of Windows Mixed Reality software it is not possible to rotate in place using a mouse or keyboard. It is possible to teleport using mouse/keyboard. For details, see https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/your_mixed_reality_home#how_do_i_move_through_the_mixed_reality_home.3F.

Thank you for using Windows Mixed Reality and thank you for your feedback that this functionality is important to you.

  • You can hold teleport and then scroll wheel, it's still a total pain but easier than trying to turn your head or whatever other nonsense.

  • I gave up on it for a while without better keyboard navigation when trying to use it as a productive workspace (and not just game playing or VR dev). Any time I try to get anywhere I feel like a dog circling a spot before sitting down. The constant feeling of having to slight turn my head because I can't just slightly rotate the view is pretty horrible. Seems like a pretty basic thing, and I can't be alone as this being a make or break issue...especially for just quick VR desktop usage.

  • Note that I do now have motion controllers, which just arrived as a surprise gift from MS for being an early adopter. So, very happy to give these a try. Wondering if I can use these and keyboards together effectively or it its a full mode switch and the motion controllers will really only help when settling down to be 'productive'.
