The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.
If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Network discovery of Hololens
Hi,
is it possible to discover the Hololens in a network? I can't see it via UPNP (Network view from my windows desktop machine) and I can't see the MDNS advertisement WDP._wdp._tcp.local as described here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/debug-test-perf/device-portal#dns-sd
I want to find the IP of HoloLenses in my Network.
Is there a built in mechanism? If yes, how can I set it up? If not: will writing a background service work?

I think you can try UNET network discovery
https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Networking.NetworkDiscovery.html
1. start server in your HoloLens application(it will automatically broadcast the IP in local network)
2. create a standalone application in your computer using the script in the above to get the IP(which is string fromAddress)
Goodluck !
