The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

Windows mixed reality error S1001161-101

does anyone know the meaning of this error? my coworkers have had it consistently happen when the following occurs:

  • start the mixed reality portal and an immersive app in the portal
  • while leaving the app running, set the headset down and wait until the MR Portal app shows that the headset is asleep.
  • without hitting the wake up button in the MR portal, put on the device
  • the MR portal will output the error in the title and will need to be restarted.

unfortunately I have had difficulty replicating this error on my own PC, and the PC where the issue occurred despite multiple attempts. However when they were at a different location this error was happening consistently, so it is something we need to address. If the error does not occur, the headset will display the windows logo and start over from the beginning.

  • Your error code should be : C0001160-101

Likely reason for the error code: Your PC's graphics card or graphics card driver may not be compatible with Windows Mixed Reality.

Please double check that your PC meets the minimum system requirements for Windows Mixed Reality. Please also ensure that you've installed the latest graphics driver from the graphics card manufacturer's website.

  • is there a reason why the error code is different then? The graphics card and other components should meet minimum standards for mixed reality, though they are the bare minimum. I am now downloading a recent update to the graphics driver, hopefully the issue will not come up again.
