Hello everyone.
The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.
There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.
The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.
For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.
If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.
And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Getting raw data from sensors
Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to obtain raw data from the HoloLens sensors. I've read the it is not possible, but now some time is passed until that answer, so it is now possible? Will it added in a future update?
We are planning to use the depth sensor in our application but actually we can't because it isn't exposed by the API. We also want to implement some gestures, but the API exposed doesn't allow us to get the control we need.
There are some "beta SDK" that expose it? It is possible to gain more control by contacting someone in Microsoft that can give us more info about it?
Thanks

Hi,
Future updates aren't something that I have any visibility of and I don't think there is a 'beta SDK' so as far as I know the answer here is as it was back at the time of this post https://forums.hololens.com/discussion/717/depth-camera in that there's not an API that gives you 'raw' data if you're looking for something like a stream of depth images off a camera.
So, there are no possible way to get raw data of cameras or IMU sensors on Windows mixed reality devices?
Hey, @apennarelli
There will soon be the so called Research Mode where we will have access to raw sensor data. This will first come in the insider preview. I don't have any specific date though.

Any tutorial on how to access there raw sensor data?
Hi - it's not a tutorial but I did write some rough notes about using the UWP media capture elements to get hold of data off the sensors. Naturally, this is not the same as official documentation and so might contain errors, assumptions on my part so keep that in mind but maybe it'll help you a little here.
I wrote up my experiments in these 2 blog posts;

I hope that helps.
