Skype for hololens multimedia sharing not working

Good morning,

i'm writing to ask an information about Skype for Hololens.

From about 1 month we are facing a problem with content sharing between windows version of Skype and Hololens version.

When the desktop version send an image on the hololens (we tried every format and size, no way to let it work), the hololens version display a grey box with a yellow warning and the image is not displayed.

On the desktop version the user can see the image displayed correctly.

Have you faced this problem already?

There is a solution for that?

Thank you,

Andrea Cumin.

Are you able to connect calls/video calls with your Skype for HoloLens app? I tried to do this today and found it was no longer working! Recent reviews in the Store say similar things.

They may have broken things in the app in preparations for the next version, which I think is focused towards business.

    Hi mike,

this is the official reply of microsoft:

As of the last Skype update previously existing functionality has been changed. The list of changes can be found on the FAQ page here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34846/what-s-new-for-skype-for-hololens. The highlights are the following:

An important part of this update creates more consistency across all platforms, including:

Mobile calling: HoloLens users can now make and receive calls from iOS and Android devices.
Annotations: Ink mode will no longer be available, though arrow mode remains unchanged as a way to point things out in your space.
File sharing: You can no longer share files on HoloLens, however you can still send, receive, or view files from any other Skype platform or device.

In short, previous functionality including inking and file sharing is no longer supported.

Hope this can help you and other people that will have the same issue...

    We have same problem.
We can't share screen between Windows 10 Skype Desktop ver (8.18.0.6) and Hololens Skype;(.
But we can do it between Windows 7 Skype Desktop ver (8.18.0.6) and Hololens Skype.

How can we share screen between Windows 10 and Hololens?
