The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Windows 10

Hi,

I am in wave 1. As a long time ios developer, I actually do not have a Windows machine. I can install Windows 10 on my Mac, but the question is should I buy a license? Given that we are going to pay $3k for the lens, can we also got a Windows 10 for free?

Yes, you'll have to buy a Windows 10 license for your dev machine. The details of what's "in the box" for the development edition is here under the What’s included section.

    And also VS2015?

Hyper-V is an partition used to run the HoloLens emulator, and is only provided in Windows 10 Professional. NOT Home and not IN Windows 10 emulators and NOT Microsoft Azure.

You can run Visual Studio 2015 Community free, for development, in the Mac Emulator, NOT the HoloLens Emulator, but as you have the real device, this wont worry you
