Commercial edition of Hololens is showing spectrum.exe error in 'Device Status'

When I open the Device portal of the Hololens, it is showing the following message on 'Device Status': The following services encountered issues: spectrum.exe. If this status persists for more than 1 minute, please reboot the device as per the image attached. When I turn on the device, It just shows me hello and then it goes blank. Please suggest some solution.

Do you have any updates on this? I'm facing exact same problem. I cannot use my device for the last few days since spectrum.exe keeps crashing.

P.S. I do have the latest updates on my HoloLens.

Update: Today (October 20) holoshellapp.exe started to crash. Looks like the situation is getting worse.

  • Just to follow up on this. I was able to replace defective unit under warranty.

  • Was it a hardware issue? I have a developer version that is constantly hanging on - The following service encountered issues: spectrum.exe. If this status persists for more than 1 minute, please reboot the device.

  • I am having the similar issue with the recent automatic update - holoshellapp.exe. If this status persists for more than 1 minute, please reboot the device. I wonder whether it requires the factory reset from Window Device Portal...
