Network Connection via USB connection
How does the network connection work when the Hololens is connected to the PC via USB?
In Visual Studio, the network ip address to run on remote machine is "127.0.0.1", which is localhost - the loopback address for the PC.
Here's what I want to do: Open a TCP Client connection inside a Hololens app to talk to a TCP Server running on the PC, all through USB.
I have the exact same scenario working over Wifi no problem - I'm just not sure what IP address the Hololens should use to talk to the PC over USB.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jason

I don't know of a way to initiate a TCP connection from HoloLens to the PC over USB. It's possible to communicate from the PC to an app on the HoloLens over USB as I described here: https://forums.hololens.com/discussion/2301/adding-port-forwards-to-hololens

It is possible, if you follow the instructions here. It's been available since VS 2017.

However, if you still cannot connect, the issue may be the USB port you are using.
I initially was using a USB 3 port (which I've used to flash my HoloLens many times) and had the same issues.
On a whim, I switched to an older USB2 port and it's working perfectly now. SO try different USB ports if you are having this issue.

Hi,
did it work ? I need to connect my Hololens 1 to the network via ethernet
@Oday It has been a while since I worked with the HoloLens. From what I recall, no, it did not work. I ended up using WiFi.
