Hello everyone.

The Mixed Reality Forums here are no longer being used or maintained.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

And always feel free to hit us up on Twitter @MxdRealityDev.

Unable to connect to device portal

I am unable to connect to the device portal via a browser or the HoloLens app on a Windows 10 PC. The browser responds with a JSON response of {"Reason":"Too many failed login attempts."}

I know the account is correct as I can login to the MSFT website and see that the device is connected to that account.

Any thoughts?

  • @jdeason23 sounds like the pairing password is the problem.
    When you pair, your are asked for a user name and password (not your MSA account, just some new pairing user name and password that you create for pairing).

    You may have entered in the wrong user name and password a number of times to trigger this message. So the best course of action would be to now unpair all from the Developer mode screen on you device, then repair and take care to create a new user name and password for your Device Portal credentials when asked and make note of that user name and password because you will be asked for it once in a while.
