Hello everyone.

There are a few other places we would like to direct you to for support, both from Microsoft and from the community.

The first way we want to connect with you is our mixed reality developer program, which you can sign up for at https://aka.ms/IWantMR.

For technical questions, please use Stack Overflow, and tag your questions using either hololens or windows-mixed-reality.

If you want to join in discussions, please do so in the HoloDevelopers Slack, which you can join by going to https://aka.ms/holodevelopers, or in our Microsoft Tech Communities forums at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality/ct-p/MicrosoftMixedReality.

I'm getting occasional password prompts on my Hololens. Is there a way to disable that?

I went to

Settings > Accounts > Sign in options > Require sign in

And I turned it off, but I still get the occasional password screen. I happens every few days, maybe once a week?

This is a real issue, the hololens my employer was traveling with was not connected to the internet and it would not let him get past the login page despite having the correct password and there was no way for him to connect the hololens to a WIFI router either (the login page only allows you to input a password nothing else and you can't get past that page).

The way I was able to get the hololens connected to the internet was to plug into my computer via USB and since I have visual studio installed on my PC I was able to access the hololens's device portal page by going to http://127.0.0.1:10080 there in network settings I was able to connect the hololens to a WIFI router with internet and after doing so I was able to login on the hololens with the same password my employer had used. As you can see this is not something a normal user can do because the user would need to have Visual Studio installed on his PC.

This can easily be alleviated by having WIFI connection options on the login page for hololens, note these are available on PC windows 10 not sure why its not on the hololens.

This has also happened to a customer of ours and we had to get him to mail the device to us, the only other option we could provide the customer was for him to hard reset it himself, which is something we want to avoid.

If there is any other way to handle this issue please let me know.
